Slipping Down on Rainbows

By Brigitte Gastel written on November 26, 2025 in Belleville, Illinois
I am slipping down on rainbows*
To find that special pot of gold
As a long time ago a story had told*
I am sailing on silver clowds
Swinging on sparkling stars*
        Embracing the shiny moon
Listening to a strange tune*
        Arriving from the outer space
Harps and sweet sound of voices*
Clearly - but yet so far away -
The distance is too long to travel*
So I will invite a "catch a falling star"
Which will go up instead of down*
        I am exploring the Milkyway
Step by step and no end in sight*
Yet I am hurrying after the light
Greater then the sun*
Brighter then a fraction of fore-said
I will be led*
        By the spirit of search
Millions and Billions of objects I am passing by*
A different world, a different existence,
I forgot to count*
I feel complete silence - no sound -

My mind is wandering ahead of me
Speculating what I might see*
Behind the golden ball called sun
Will the walk thru darkness*
Be worth to find the destination
Meant for you and me*
        Is it possible to be
That you cannot reach the end, ever? *

I glance deep down where our world is suppose to be*
        I can't find it anymore
It got lost between all the other stars,*
Suddenly I feel trapped between beginning and end
Though wisdom had been sent*
        Thru the messages of Christ
God's living symbol of eternity*
I am only a small stone
In the world of giant rocks*
        To believe, not to doubt,
To have truly faith, to cast out*
        The loud and the ignorant
I can't help thinking*
Where are you - Heaven - promised to us
Though I have a gifted imagination*
I am not able to visualize it's signification

Life can be described as a diary
You write in, you scratch out*
        Questioning the circumstances
It's meaning, it's *all about**
        Maybe it's like a scrapbook
Of what you gave and what you took*
        Sometimes I have the notion
That I am blowing out of proportion*
In keeping on and on by investigating
of unanswered questions*
There exists a song "Blessed Assurance" -
I guess that's what I need*
        Wouldn't it be a treat
If it striked simple little me*
Showing me the way how to be
In the Lord's eyes? *

Isn't it strange,*
I try to start out with a poem
And then I get caught*
        Within my own thought?
